Net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF) sector were -101 kt CO2 eq in 2019. The LULUCF sector was a net emitter in 2014-2018, meaning that emissions were higher than sinks. Forest felling was the largest contributor to sink reductions in this sector during this period. However, in 2019 it decreased by about 13% compared to the previous year, according to Slovenian Forest Service. The amount of sanitary cut in 2019 was 2,835,623 m3 or 54% of the total felling. Sanitary cut as a percentage of total felling also decreased by 13% compared to 2018, indicating that the situation is calming down after the natural disturbances.
