Emission productivity in Slovenia has improved in 2019. Compared to the EU, progress in the field of emission productivity in Slovenia is still too slow. Despite the progress made in the last two years, the link between economic development and measures to reduce GHG emissions needs to be further strengthened.
The Strategy Development of Slovenia 2030 sets the goal of improving emission productivity, where the goal for 2030 is reaching the EU average. The monitoring of emission productivity is somewhat different in the Strategy, as it takes GDP into account in the indicator on the basis of purchasing power standards. In 2018, Slovenia still lagged behind the EU average, but the difference compared to this average decreased slightly. In 2019, emission productivity improved again. The goal set for the indicator in the Strategy is not defined in terms of value, but pursues the goal of achieving the EU average.
