The level of household consumption, as well as savings or investments, largely depends on disposable income. It is a fundamental indicator of household material well-being. Household consumption in Slovenia fell significantly during the pandemic in 2020, while disposable income maintained positive growth. A few years later, in 2024, household consumption recorded a 1.6% growth. In the same year, disposable income per capita grew in all statistical regions; the highest in the Osrednjeslovenska region and the lowest in the Pomurska region. Households in Slovenia saved less on average in 2024 than in 2023. Although Slovenia is among the countries with the lowest risk of poverty and social exclusion in the EU, 276,000 people still lived below the poverty threshold in 2024, 12,000 more than in 2023.
