Results of the REUS 2019 survey show that the car represents the main mode of transportation both in people's city of residence and outside the city. The share of surveyed households that walk or cycle in addition to driving a car and using public transport increased significantly compared to the period 2010–2017. Choice of transport does not depend on the time of year. During the summer season, the bicycle is an additional mode of transport to work for just under one-third of respondents. The REUS 2019 survey shows that a good two-thirds of households are in favor of combining a car with another mode of transport. Good bus connections, timetables and time spent in transit play a key role in choosing a mode of transport, with time the most decisive factor. Looking forward into the future, respondents cite walking and cycling as alternative forms of mobility.

The analysis of the results must take into account that in 2019 the respondents could only choose one option, whereas in past surveys (2010-2017) they could choose several options at a time.
