The amount of deposited biodegradable waste declined rapidly before 2013, then the reduction stopped. In the years 2016 and 2017, the quantity again considerably decreased as a result of the construction of infrastructure for mechanical biological treatment of waste before disposal. In the years 2016 and 2017, the quantity was significantly lower than the target in 2020. The main measures by which the reduction of the quantities of deposited biodegradable waste was achieved was the separate collection of waste and the mechanical biological treatment of mixed municipal waste.
