It is obvious that we do not keep ecological footprint within affordable limits. This results the imbalance between demand (for food, fuels, wood and fibers) and biological capacity which indicates the possibility of self-regeneration. Slovenia with ecological footprint of 5,2 gha/per capita exceeds the EU average of 4,7 gha/per capita. Demand is almost twice bigger then the biological capacity, mainly due to overuse of non-renewable energy sources (fossil fuels) in the energy sector.
