Key message

In Slovenia, just over 1.1 million tonnes of municipal waste were generated in 2023, which is 7 % more than the previous year, of which 69 % was collected separately. 26 % of municipal waste generated was packaging waste. In 2023, more than 294.000 tonnes of packaging waste were generated in Slovenia, of which more than one fifth was plastic packaging waste.

In 2023, almost 1.4 million tons of non-hazardous construction waste (excluding waste with code 17 05 04) were generated, which is 1 % more than in 2022. In 2023, 95.8 % of all non-hazardous construction waste generated (excluding waste with code 17 05 04) was reused, recycled or otherwise materially recovered (backfilling or deposit into / on to land).
