In 2020, specific CO2 emissions in the residential sector amounted to 9.2 kg CO2 eq/m2 or 3% more than the previous year and were 0.4 percentage points below the annual target,. The 2020 target was thus not achieved. The increase was mainly due to the increase of CO2 emissions from the use of fuels in this sector by almost 4%. The increase was caused on one hand by the colder year, and on the other hand by the coronavirus pandemic and the implementation of measures for preventing the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The increase in specific emissions in 2020 was after 2015 only the second in the observed period.
